I
fucking love these guys man. I’ve watched Workaholics four times. Four
times. That’s nearly 121 hours (5 days) of my life spent watching that hilarious
show. I was always going to watch this movie, and I was always going to like it
more than I should. However, I can hold my hand up and admit that this was not
a good movie. The characters weren’t too far off their characters in Workaholics,
but I think they should have just made a Workaholics movie, it would
have been a lot better than this. You could almost tell that these were TV
guys, used to making stuff as funny as they could with a low budget, who had
been given a whole lot more money to play with and they spared no expense.
Plenty of celebrity cameos, some friendly faces from their TV show too and yet
it just wasn’t quite so good. It was bad slapstick. There were the squeamish,
disgusting moments I have come to expect from them, as well as the odd moments
that cracked me up, but it was certainly not a laugh-a-minute. It was a shame,
but perhaps I expected too much, and I’m sure the guys want to develop their
careers beyond the show that made them. And to be fair they all have. DeVine
seems to be everywhere at the moment, Anderson has had plenty of TV roles and
cameos and Holm has also been in his fair share of movies and TV shows. I don’t
recommend you watch this movie – unless you liked Workaholics – and even
if you did it’s unlikely you’ll enjoy this. (But I liked them too much to give
them a bad rating and I still kind of enjoyed it).
