If you can watch this without averting your eyes
at any point, then hats off to you. Three Stephen King novels turned into films
in the same year, this, It and The Dark Tower. The hype was all
over It (which I’m yet to see), and I’ve heard that Dark Tower is
crap, but this I think slipped under the radar slightly. And it’s not too bad. It
could have been a lot scarier though. I got a bit creeped out at the end, and a
couple of times in the middle, but nothing that scary. The toughest bit to
watch is gory, so if you hate the Saw franchise then don’t bother. Carla
Gugino was good in this to be fair, although, as I often do when watching the
horror genre, I got pissed off with her character’s choices in dealing with her
situation. It’s an alright film, and I’m not sure how it managed such a high
score on RT, but you might be surprised.
