I’ve seen this one a couple of times before but
on a lazy evening decided to put it on for some easy laughs. It’s one of those
films that you don’t have to concentrate too hard on, with its cheap jokes and
spoofs of the music world. There are some very funny moments too, largely involving
Jonah Hill getting fucked up. It’s all about a young executive at a record
company, Aaron Green (Hill) who pitches the idea to his boss (Combs) of an
anniversary gig for Aldous Snow (Brand) and his band Infant Sorrow at the Greek
theatre in LA. The only problem being that Snow has fallen off the wagon and is
back in London. The jokes centre around the two getting into complicated
situations with drugs and alcohol, and Brand’s sex appeal, but they seem to
work despite being so obvious. It’s produced by Judd Apatow so it was always
going to have a few good jokes in there. It’s nothing special but I can’t fault
it too badly either.
