Didn’t
think I would like this as I usually dislike musicals (apart from Grease of
course), but I was pleasantly surprised. The songs are catchy and Gosling and
Stone were brilliant. No real substance to it though I didn’t think. It was
just a nice, soft, house in the suburbs, three kids and a dog, nice patio and
pool out the back kind of film. I liked the ending where Mia and Sebastian see
each other again as it added a little bit of depth. Mostly though this was just
a feel good film for me. Especially based on where I am in my life at the
moment, it’s not as easy as these two make it seem in LA or anywhere. Sebastian’s
a hugely talented musician and Mia gets lucky with a role. That happens to one
in a thousand people in the business I’d say. This film will make you feel
great until the moment it ends and you’re sat alone in your boxers with a cup
of tea and no job.
